BUILDING GRIT: Empowering kids for resilience and connection

Presenter: Melissa J. Johnson, PhD
Psychologist, CEO, and Founder, Institute for Girls’ Development
Expert on child and adolescent development

When: Wednesday, Sept 20, 7:00 – 8:30pm

Real life takes grit – and perseverance, passion, determination, and resilience.  These are qualities we wish for our children as they face the real demands of academic, social and emotional growth. As parents, how can we best foster grit and resilience in our children?  It’s exciting to know there are steps we can take! As Angela Duckworth, grit researcher, shares: “At various points, in big ways and small, we get knocked down. If we stay down, grit loses. If we get up, grit prevails.”  Come learn ways to help grit prevail in our families.

Presenter Dr. Melissa Johnson is a licensed psychologist, CEO and founder of the Institute for Girls’ Development. Out of her passion for building grit, she has developed the Girls and Grit® program at the Institute. Join us for parenting tips, inspiring stories, and current research that provide parents with tools to foster grit, resilience and connection in all children.
